Bio:
Dr. Heloisa Candello is an Associate Professor at Inteli and a distinguished researcher in the field of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI). Prior to her current role, she spent over 12 years at IBM Research, where she served as a Senior Research Scientist in the Responsible Tech group in Brazil. She holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science (Interactive Technologies) from the University of Brighton, UK. Her primary research focuses on applying design methods to understand human interaction with Artificial Intelligence, specifically regarding the social impact, context, and motivations behind conversational agentic systems.
A recognized leader in the global HCI community, Heloisa has published extensively in premier venues such as ACM CHI, CUI, CSCW, and IUI. Her leadership extends to several executive roles: she currently serves as Technical Program Chair for CHI 2026, on the SIGCHI LATAM Executive Committee, and the Steering Committees for both CUI and CHI.
