Abstract
In this talk I present the audience with my journey through the world of patents and innovation. From understanding what patents are and what can be protected, to exploring the differences between publishing a paper and securing intellectual property, the talk provides a practical and engaging overview of the choices inventors face. I also discuss the question of why patent or why not highlighting the strategic and ethical considerations that shape innovation. Drawing on my experience as an IBM Master Inventor for 9 years, I will share real-world patent stories that reveal both the challenges and rewards of innovating. The session offers insights into navigating the patenting process, understanding its impact on technology and society, and turning ideas into meaningful innovation.About this Lecture
